The Tokata Foundation is a pan-African non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing digital payments capability, financial inclusion, and digital transformation across the continent.
Established by Estevao Tokata, founder and CEO of Transact Connect Training, the Foundation was created to clearly separate our commercial training business from our philanthropic and ecosystem-supporting mission. After more than three decades in the payments sector, our founder realised that true impact, especially in rural communities, youth employment, and MSME readiness, requires a dedicated foundation with a development-first mandate.
In creating the Tokata Foundation, the leadership recognised that sustainable progress in digital payments requires more than technical training, it demands community-centred development, inclusive policy dialogue, and the nurturing of future industry leaders. The Foundation therefore serves as a bridge between capability-building and social impact, ensuring that underserved groups, young innovators, and small businesses gain the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.
